I’m experienced in all aspects of IT & System Administration. Including network infrastructure, network security and technical support. I’ve worked in a smaller city where I’ve gained the opportunity to learn and refine a wide skill set. Most businesses in Amarillo hire IT personnel to handle a wide range of tasks because of the high cost of skilled employees, and they expect the IT personnel to quickly learn specialized, custom-built software and maintain existing hardware. This expectation has given me the aptitude of learning any new skill quickly and adapt to new software rapidly. I’m currently pursuing my certifications in Amazon Web Services Dev/Ops & Sys/Ops to broaden my skills.

More than 25 years IT & Server/Desktop Support experience with the last 4 years in DevOps specialization/support using Linux VMs, KVMS, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Big Data management using tools ranging from Amazon Spark, Hadoop, and custom built software. About Me

Hello! I’m Adam Ayala.

Texas born and raised. I’m passionate about everything I do. I thrive on new ideas, good cooking, adrenaline, and music. I love to read anything that’s food for the brain and listen to inspirational people speak. Music is part of everything I do. For me it is just part of the creative process. Loud music in my ears and my hands on my keyboard is how I work. I love trying anything new and exciting.

I am currently working on my AWS Dev/Ops & AWS Sysops certifications as well as remote projects and some software with a team of developers. I have dedicated my time as a daycare keeper of my mother who is in home hospice care. Together with her doctors and nurses we have developed a care plan based her special needs that also gives me the opportunity to still follow my career.

I understand that resumes can be a tedious way to find an individual that can be a  solid attribute to your team. I’m the constant student and confident teacher. If you’re looking for someone who loves what they do, does it for fun and is constantly learning, writing and contributing to the open source community, I’m your guy.

My Services
Team Leadership and Member

One of my skills I'm most proud of is my ability to work well with teams. I find it's much more efficient than working alone. That's why I'm a proponent of Agile work environments.

Problem Solver

I'm a constant problem solver. I'm just wired that way. If I'm working on a project I'm working on it at the keyboard as well as away from it.

System Administration

I've spent most of my career as a IT administrator or Sysadmin in some form or another. It opens up the opportunities to learn many skills at once.

I'm A Geek

I'm blessed that I'm able to do what I love. Weekdays to weekends; I'm the epitome of geek.

August 6, 2019 Netgear’s Static IP Flaw with alternate DNS servers

I have 2 Netgear Nighthawk routers on my local lan. I do most of my development in containers that of.ten need ‘static DHCP IP addresses’. After wading through the firmware that Netgear puts out on their Open Source site I found the cause of my most annoying bug.

August 6, 2019 Split Tunneling a VPN on an Ubuntu Server

I decided I needed a single bare metal setup rather than using LXC/LXD containers to separate certain apps on my server. This required a split tunnel VPN. This enables the server to route certain traffic through a VPN connection, while everything else will have direct access, bypassing the VPN. Network traffic will be securely separated.
